Candidate manifesto | Mark Cordell

Updated: Mar 21, 2021

After standing on the Trust board for the last two years I have volunteered to step down so that the Trust can meet its 1/3rd ruling. I am now seeking re-election to continue all that I have been involved in and to begin new projects.

Throughout the last two years I have been heavily involved in the Ownership Working Group whilst also chairing it for most of that time. During this period, we have moved forward with the help of others towards the strategic aim of 75% shareholding and continued to promote supporter engagement. We continue to look at ways to increase membership and income for the club although appreciate given Covid it is now a difficult time for not just the club, but it’s supporters.

I am also a member performance and audit committee; I am the Supporters Trust representative and have been involved in reviewing club strategy and annual accounts. Other projects I have been involved in include Trust the Future and Cycle for City. Cycle for City is a current initiative where as well as raising some funds for the Trust we are encouraging health and wellbeing.

During my time on the board I have always approached matters with an open mind and have done my best to present a balanced view. I have always based those views on the best interest of the club to help ensure the long term future of the club.

I am proud to be a long time fan of Exeter City and promote fan ownership at every opportunity. It has been an honour to be involved in the Supporters Trust Board and I ask for you to trust in me to continue in post.

I believe that supporter ownership is one of the best models and this has been highlighted during the troubles some clubs have encountered during the current pandemic.

If successful I will continue to represent the fans by promoting this model and combing it with the commercial acumen gained through my career to help make sensible decisions and promote balanced arguments to secure the safe future of our club.
