Match Day Thank You

In normal times one of the most popular Trust initiatives is director of the day, when a Trust member, drawn at random is invited, with a guest, to join the home and visiting directors for lunch and then on to the boardroom before watching the game in the directors’ area of the IP Office stand.

Sadly, Covid restrictions mean we are unable to do this at present so instead we have launched the Trust Match Day Thank You.

Three Trust members, again drawn at random, are contacted at the beginning of the week of a home fixture, in time to include their names in the match day programme. After the match we will send our winners the programme, a limited-edition Trust 20 2020 badge, and a car sticker. A modest thank you for your continuing support.

Rest assured, Director for the Day will be back as soon as Covid restrictions allow us to do it safely, but for now we catch up with some of those supporters who we have been delighted to thank ahead of this week's game against Grimsby Town.

Trevor Cook has been going to games since 2006 and his favourite player over that time is Nicky Law. His favourite game was the 2-0 home win on January 16, 2010, over Leeds United with the two goals from Ryan Harley. He’s watching iFollow and thinks we've been very good and the way the youngsters have stepped up is great credit to them and us! They will have peaks and lows and Matt has been managing this very well.

David Boland has been going to games since 1976 which was a great season to start as we got promoted under John Newman. His favourite player in that time is the great Tony Kellow. His favourite game was the play-off semi-final at Oxford on May 8, 2007, when we pulled the score back from the 1-0 home-leg loss to draw 2-2 on aggregate then won the penalty shoot-out 4-3 to go to Wembley – least said about that the better! He’s watching home iFollow games, his perception we can't stop giving away bad goals so if we can cure that then we might just do something.

Robert Priston has been going to games since 1969 and his favourite player is Fred Binney who he once met on a golf course and they had a good chat. His favourite game was last season’s 4-0 home win over Plymouth, never to be forgotten! Robert’s been watching iFollow and thinks we've already bettered expectations as pre-season it seemed to be destined to be a development one.
